Glowing and curved lines

Posted in Photoshop by

I'm going to show you how to design curved, glowing lines. You can use them to create some nice effects / sparks or just make an awesome wallpaper, it's up to you.

Here's how it's going to look in the end:

Begin by going to File > New Set the image size to something like 600 x 600 pixels, but it can be anything you like really as long as you have enough space

Now on the left side, where usually toolbox is, select Paint Bucket Tool (or just press key G, it's a shortcut)

On the right side, set the color to black and after that click your mouse somewhere on the image, it should be filled black now.

Go to Layer > New > Layer and press OK.

Now select Line tool, set it's Width to 5

Set the color to white and after that while holding down shift, draw a horizontal line.

If you did everything right you should have a narrow, white line. Now go to Select > Deselect

It's time to curve the line, if you don't want it to be curved then just skip the following step 1) Go to Filter > Liquify

2) Set everything like in image below

3) Play around with mouse in image area to get the result you want (If you screwed up then just press Ctrl + Z and try again)

This is how I did it:

Finally, we have to add glow, so right click on the layer where the line is and select Blending Options

Select Outer Glow, set Blend mode to Screen, Opacity to around 70 and Size to around 10 Hit OK and it should be done.

You can experiment by adding more lines with different colors and also you can try to change various settings like size or opacity./files/file/ps4_7.jpg
